Israel Magalong Umali

At age 4, Israel Magalong Umali started learning the piano but had a seven year hiatus while he was growing up and navigating his passions and dreams. He fell in love with the piano at age 11 and has not stopped practicing and studying countless piano pieces ever since. He has been gifted with wonderful teachers, all who affirmed his talent and commitment to learning the piano.

Israel was driven to become the best pianist he can be and soon began joining local competitions. His recent wins include placing sixth under the Piano Duo Category by the Singapore International Young Pianist Competition in January 2024 and placing 3rd under the B2 Etudes Category by the Piano Teachers Guild of the Philippines Foundation, Inc., in April 2024.

Further studies in piano performance is his top priority at this time but as the saying goes, learning is lifetime. He looks forward to learning and teaching classical piano wherever life takes him.

Israel’s love for the piano does not stop with his love of performance, he desires to continue the legacy of classical music alive. He desires to spread love for classical piano in his hometown, Davao City in the future.
